The eighth and final piece in Dietrich Buxtehude’s Ihr lieben Christen, fret much nun, a chorale and amen for SSATB. The chorale is 3/2 and the amen is in 4/4. The concert tempo is a half note at 72 beats/minute. The tutti version below is at that speed, but the parts emphasized versions are at 65, in deference to the amen section. I included the instrumental bass line thought, and I entered some of the treble part in the measures in which we do not sing. Note thatthe previous piece, a duet, ends with both soloists singing a d. That’s the beginning note for the sopranos and the basses. All others pay cash.
