Immediately following all the singing about funeral knells, Pitti-Sing tells Katisha to go away, because the wedding is on, so there! I always think of this as “sorority sister to the rescue.”
This section goes from the cue line at the bottom of page 20, m272, to the top of page 23, choral line m316. It begins with Pitti-sing singing “For___ he’s going to merry Yum-yum!” The chorus echoes “Yum-yum”, “cumb-cumb” and so on and then repeats “On this subject we pray you be dumb and segues into the “lots of good fish” theme. This is a short section, but the “Yum-Yum” echoes must be crisp and dead on the rhythm, and the “lots of good fish” part is tricky. After practicing your part, sing with the Altogether to see how fast you have to go.
