This first part goes from measure 1 to 61, during which Ralph, the Captain, Dick, Hebe, and the men sing. Sopranos and altos, you can skip to part 2! The finale begins with a quartet by the principals, which I skipped in the following recordings.
The recordings begin with measure 26, when the Captain sings, “For he’s the Captain of the Pinafore…” and the chorus answers, “And a right good Captain, too!” It’s just like No. 4, “My Gallant Crew”, but with slightly different words, because everything is now topsy-turvy, and the new Captain is Ralph, and the old one is a crewman. I think I just recorded all the parts Allegro.
